thank you, OJ Simpson

i am fascinated with the U.S. Justice System

the past few weeks...
i've been glued to the news, insession & research
on the Casey Anthony Murder Trial
(im sure my twitter followers have noticed)

it all started with OJ Simpson
i was hooked
i admired greta van susteren & marcia clark

i made sure my mom tape recorded every single day of the trial
during the maryland snowstorm, all i did was watch the trial live

i thank the OJ Simpson Trial for my love for news and the legal system
and i believe that's why i'm here today
as a news journalist
 sleeping 2 hrs a night
because of my obsession for these court cases

and today
i await Day 2 of the Casey Anthony Jury Trial
after an amazing & explosive Day 1, full of shocking accusations
unbelievable strategies by the Defense
and an emotional opening from the Prosecution

getting a Facelift

you turn on WHSV and you see black?
how about green? is the video blinking?
is the audio inaudible?

please excuse us...
it's just a part of our amazing facelift!

WHSV is going HD
(high definition, in case you live under a rock)

and our efforts to bring YOU better news...
may cause a few little difficulties here and there

but do not worry
the news personalities (i.e. ME) are not going to be replaced by robots
and yes, that was really a question a viewer had for me! =)

instead, the quality of our video/audio/etc will just be better!

we will transition into HD in June

get ready!!!!!!

My Tasting @ the Jefferson Hotel

the royal treatment at the Jefferson Hotel

we started off with 3 full salads, 3 full dinners,
4 bottles of wine, 3 signature cocktails, 3 cake slices...

just between me... and mike...

we are of course, only serving Virginia wine
because Virginia is for Wine Lovers
and why wouldnt we use wine right from Thomas Jefferson's backyard?

Ashton and Rick from marketing/catering really took care of us
and of course, our Chef Patrick, server Stephanie, cake designer Sara and Florist Rick

our favorite part
in addition to the food
was our signature drinks Ashton created for our theme

cheers!

Chef Patrick surprised me with spoonbread to go
it is mike and my ABSOLUTE favorite
at the Jefferson's Champagn Brunch

not a fan of political unrest

an unwanted email from Norwegian Cruise Lines

CANCELLED SAILING INFORMATION
Dear Valued Guest:

As you may know, there has been political unrest in the regions visited on these itineraries. As a result, we are reducing the number of cruises we offer to this region and therefore, cancelling the above mentioned sailings.

the little gardener

as you know,
WHSV is looking to give a gift
it's called the Children First Good Neighbor Gift
one of my favorite ideas for the gift
is a "Little Farmer's Market"

turns out
my agriculture roots go way back

at least an attempt to help grandma garden

at any rate
happy birthday to my grandma
and all the other mother's out there
(including my very own of course)

strangest house for sale

when house hunting in Cincinnati
we saw the strangest thing at a house for sale in Montgomery

it was a hand dryer
in the master bedroom

mind you
they also had two hot tubs
one inside the living room
the other right outside

if you're still curious
no, we did not buy this house

lions, tigers & anchors, oh my!

the circus has come and gone
leaving just pictures behind

and i was fortunate to learn a bit more...
about what goes on behind the scenes

amanda and i were honorary ringmasters
and we rode elephant, nina, into the circus

i was never a fan of the circus
i read so many horrible articles about animal mistreatment, etc

but i had the opportunity to meet someone who had worked for the circus as a child
he changed my mind a bit

then when the cole brother's circus came into town
amanda and i decided to attend

we had the pleasure to meet many circus members
and found out what a family business it really was

we learned that-
these acts are contracted out separately

we also learned
that animals- are not owned by the circus

instead, they are owned by the different contractors

for example, Nina here...
she is a 40 yr old Family elephant
her elephant family being with her owners for 6 generations

we also found out
Nina's handler pictured above
was born to his circus family
and knew Nina all his life

we want to thank Nina was being such a sweetheart
we are sorry we didnt have M&Ms for you!

btw... the really good photos above- are by Ted Alvis
the horrible photos, by my camera =)

they accused of me of murder, but fed me well!

WHO DID IT?
not i

delegate dickie bell (R-Staunton) and i were accused of murder
but it was all for good fun

delegate bell and i were among the several suspects
for the murder of a bentley commons employee, scott clark,
killed with a knitting needle
(del. bell and i were found innocent)
just to clear our names there lol

obviously a murder mystery dinner at bentley commons

and boy, did they feed us well!
so it was worth the accusations, i suppose =)

delicious salmon, flourless chocolate cake, salad
thanks to chef chris faris

it was very nice to meet our daybreak friends at bentley commons
apparently, they eat delicious breakfast
and watch us every morning!

esp phyllis =)

thanks bentley commons for having us!

(now i must save my money to live here when i retire)
