BEHIND THE SCENES - Social Media Obsession GIFT!

BEHIND THE SCENES
WHIO TV
YUNA LEE, REPORTER
(note the facebook & twitter logos)

3 years ago, I got in trouble for "Facebooking" too much in the Newsroom
2 years ago, my boss told me I needed to stick my iPhone in the freezer (yes, Rachel McAdams)
1 year ago, my eye doctor told me my cornea was deteriorating because I was losing sleep
(obsession w news & social media - the culprit)

Today, I have a facebook & twitter logo next to my Super (the "talent graphic') because I earned it!
Ha! Finally something GOOD comes out of my obsession with Facebook & Twitter!

Is it worth it?
YES!
 (except the cornea portion)

to tell you the truth,
i just wanted to brag about the new supers we have at News Center 7

CHERRY BLOSSOMS - #fail College Years

Cherry Blossoms in Full Bloom in DC
extremely early this year!

I didnt take this photo below, but take a look at how beautiful it is!
I truly miss living in Virginia this time of year!
you can even see my FAVORITE memorial!

this photo reminds me of my college years at the University of Virginia
when my girlfriends and I went to see the Cherry Blossoms
we thought we were SO CLEVER taking all these "adorable" photos with the Cherry Blossoms.

as you can see from the photo above, the tree I am posing in front of... is NOT a cherry blossom tree...
we learned to do a bit more research for next time.

Health Care Debate - "a big ****n Deal"

Its quite the big ****n deal, my friends...

My eyes will be glued to the US Supreme Court this week, as the high court begins 3 days of hearings challenging the Health Care Act (Obamacare- as opponents call it) the President signed into law two years ago.

I covered it quite extensively at my previous station, WHSV in Virginia and had numerous conversations with everyday Americans struggling to get health insurance and also with the Virginia Attorney General, now Gubernatorial candidate, Ken Cuccinelli. That's because Virginia filed its own separate lawsuit challenging the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Virginia's lawsuit is not a part of this week's hearing. This week, The US Supreme Court hears the multi-state challenge led by Florida. I believe 26 states are a part of this massive lawsuit against the federal government.

Quite often, I will be obsessed with certain court cases (OJ Simpson trial was my first... Terri Schaivo & Casey Anthony among others)... So I'm sure I will be losing sleep and only "half there" at work. You will have to excuse me. :)

Also, depending on whether the law is upheld or not, in my opinion, will play quite a role in the elections this year... And in Virginia, should play some type of role in the GOP Gubernatorial race between AG Cucinnelli & Lt.Gov Bill Bolling.

photo- one of the many interviews with the AG regarding health care...

I shouldve taken a week off work to sit in these hearings!

My Etch-a-Sketch Moment & Andy Dick

Many Americans may now associate Etch-a-Sketch with the GOP Presidential Candidates, particularly Mitt Romney. I associate Etch-a-Sketch with my best friend, Mellie & Andy Dick.

The night I realized Mellie had the most amazing talent for drawing flawless roses on Etch-a-Sketch was the same day we saw Andy Dick, while eating sushi. Hence, the oh-so-clever photo of "me eating" actually portrays Andy Dick on the right top corner. Yes, we are so slick

PRESIDENTIAL RACE 2012 - Interview w Vice President Joe Biden in Toledo

Obama-Biden 2012 Campaign Kicks off in Toledo

Vice President, Joe Biden, makes a stop in Ohio
just one week after Super Tuesday and two days after President's visit to Dayton

We were able to interview the Vice President and ask him specific questions relating to our area.

The VP was joined by 500 people and Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur
(she recently won Dem primary against Dennis Kucinich)

News Center 7 Photographer, Chuck Hamlin, as we wait and wait.

Below are two videos- a quick wrap of what happened at the rally...
and then a clip from my one on one interview with VP Biden.

U.S. SENATE RACE - Senator Marco Rubio Endorses Ohio Candidate

U.S. SENATE RACE 2012 in OHIO
Ohio State Treasurer, Josh Mandel (R), is hoping to unseat U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D)
Less than one week after winning the Republican primary, Mandel received a huge endorsement...
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) who is rumored to be a potential Vice Presidential Candidate,
flew from Florida to Ohio to make his endorsement, which happens to be the first one he has made.

The two spoke at the Wright State University's Berry Room at the Nutter Center.
About 300 people attended the event.

After the rally, we had a chance to ask both Mandel & Rubio a few questions...
including the one- we all want to know the answer to...
VP for Rubio?
He told us no because he still has a LOT to finish in the Senate...
so I asked him, what he would do.. if the nominee callled him and said they needed him...

His response?

BEHIND THE SCENES - PRESIDENT TO VISIT DAYTON

The President is expected to visit Dayton Tuesday.

Irony?

He's visiting exactly ONE week after Super Tuesday... and exactly FOUR YEARS since his last visit to our area... He was Candidate Barack Obama... and now he comes to visit as the President.

He's brining the British Prime Minister to watch the NCAA First Four at the University of Dayton Arena.

So what does this mean for Dayton?  Lots of preparations!

We talked with the U.S. Secret Service today who gave us an inside scoop... and the City of Dayton, as well as the Dayton Convention & Visitors Bureau!

Ill have all of that coming up!

Looks like all the "candidates" for this year's Presidential Elections find value in visiting our area!

OHIO 2012 - SUPERS of SUPER TUESDAY

SUPER TUESDAY
OHIO 2012

Super Tuesday may not have been so Super in Ohio, afterall...

For the Presidential Primary Race,
it was quite a mystery!

Romney was ahead of Santorum, then Santorum pulled forward, then Romney ended up with the most votes... BUT... his lead is only 10,000 votes ahead of Santorum, who wins 2nd...
but that's just for now...

The Board of Elections in Montgomery County says.. they're a great chance for a RECOUNT in Ohio.
He says the race is was so close, this qualifies for an automatic recount...
we'll see if it's called by the Secretary of State in Ohio.

still, results are not likely to change...
and it looks like Romney does take Ohio on Super Tuesday.

Does this mean he will be the Republican Presidential nominee?
Ohio usually predicts the presidential candidate... so he sure may be...
then again,
there has been nothing ordinary and predictable about this Election Year.

as for a few SUPER TUESDAY SUPERS...
there were a few SUPER FAILURES-
including the Huber Heights Income Addition Income Tax- failing w 68% of the votes
in Butler Township, the police levy failed, but only by 100 votes- pretty tight race.
we'll see if its on the ballot again in November.

SUPER LOW numbers!
incredibly low voter turnout in Montgomery County.
they usually see about a 40% voter turnout during primaries...
this super tuesday- 21% turnout!
that's incredibly low!

SUPER CLOSE RACES -
including a German Twp. Levy that is failing by only 5 votes
too close to call at this point!
plus, there are two Republican County Cnetral Committee races too close to call.
if it turns out to be a tie...
they will flip a coin.
seriously.

GOP PRESIDENTIAL RACE - Covering Santorum's Visit

GOP 2012 PRESIDENTIAL RACE
RICK SANTORUM VISITS THE MIAMI VALLEY

Republican Presidential Candidate, Former U.S. Senator of Pennsylvania, Rick Santorum made a visit to the Dayton Christian Schools today in a last minute push to woo voters in Ohio.

One of the greatest moments of the event- was the musical performance by Dayton Christian School students.
Their voices were angelic.

Video before Event...

He was introduced by the Ohio Attorney General, Mike DeWine, who switched his endorsement from Mitt Romney to Rick Santorum a few weeks ago.  DeWine says Santorum WILL win tomorrow...

Will he?  Many voters, even Santorum's supporters, say even if Santorum does not win the primaries... it's okay... they will support whoever wins the GOP Nomination.

When asked, will it be a brokered convention this year?  DeWine told us, "no".. He says Santorum will win the nomination.

Santorum spoke for 40 minutes.. then answered one of my questions- (which we unfortunately did not get on camera)... I asked him, Why Ohio?
There are 10 states holding primaries tomorrow, including Ohio.. so why Ohio?
One of the things he said to me, "Why Not Ohio?"

Santorum was leading the polls by seven points when I last saw him in the Miami Valley.
Now, its too close to call...

The United States Secret Service is now involved in an investigation into a Facebook Post made by a 13 year old Middle School Student.  The school tells me it was a "stupid comment" and the boy apologized to the principal. BUT... the Secret Service is involved, in addition to Miami Township Police Dept.
